Marva Eunice Taylor Parke, wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband, and family on Wednesday February 22, 2023, at the age of 81.
Marva was born on April 4th, 1941, in Los Angeles, California to Marvin Stillman Taylor, and Margie Ruth Gatherum Taylor. Shortly after birth, her family moved to Millcreek Utah, where she spent her growing up years. Marva graduated from Olympus High, class of 1959, then she attended Stevens Henager Business College. Marva met her sweetheart, and love of her life Charles Curtis Parke, they were married September 28th, 1960, in East Millcreek.
They were later sealed in the Logan Temple on September 28th, 1962. She received many awards throughout her life, the one she was most proud of was The Golden Gleaner award. Charles and Marva lived in Sandy, Utah for 11 years. She served in many church callings, including Relief Society, Young Women’s, and Sunday School. They moved to Highland, UT in 1973, where Charles built their family home.
Marva was one of the most faithful members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a devoted member of the Daughters of The Utah Pioneers for 40 years, and served as Captain, as well as other callings. She worked at the Utah State Developmental Center for many years and was always serving others. She was loved by all who knew her, and a friend to everyone. Throughout her life she had a passion for family history, and loved to share stories of her ancestors. Marva served as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple, as well as the Mount Timpanogos Temple. She also served as a service missionary locator for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Marva’s hobbies included: knitting, baking, cooking, word games and family history.
Her whole life was centered around raising her 5 children. She also loved her 8 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren, with 1 more due in May, more than anything.
Marva is survived by her wonderful husband Charles Curtis Parke, and her children: Launa (Guillermo) Carrillo, Sonya Parke, Charles “Curt” (Julie) Parke, Craig Parke, Clayton (Merilee) Parke and her 8 grandchildren; Dalton, Dallis, Kylee, Sierra, Cayden, Halle, Jaxon, and Colton. She was preceded in death by her parents, and 4 brothers. She has 2 living sisters.
Funeral services for Marva will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at 11:00 am in the Highland 9th Ward Chapel, located at 11162 North Alpine Highway, Highland, Utah. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm and also at an additional viewing on Thursday morning from 9:30-10:30 am prior to services at the church. Interment will follow services at the Highland City Cemetery.
