Darrin Joseph DeLange
Darrin Joseph DeLange
1967 – 2023
Darrin Joseph DeLange, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and dear friend passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 after a tragic car accident. Words cannot express our deep sorrow for this unexpected loss.
Born on February 26, 1967 in Encino, California, the youngest child of JoAnn Watkins DeLange and Talmage J. DeLange, Darrin was gentle, kind and clever. He had many friends through life and was known for his dancing moves in High School.
Serving a mission in The Hague, Netherlands for two years had a lasting impact on Darrin’s life and reinforced his love of warm climates. Darrin served diligently in many callings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Mesa, Arizona and Highland, Utah. His testimony of Jesus Christ was the foundation he based his life upon.
Darrin had a love of learning and graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Political Science and from the Sandra Day O’Connor Law School at Arizona State University. After graduation, Darrin worked for the Attorney General’s office of Arizona, dabbled in big law (not for him) and had his own legal practice. At BYU, Darrin had worked for the Office of Ombudsman and that instilled a desire in him to use his profession for the good of others. He often took on pro bono and reduced fee work in his hope to help others. Darrin also had some great experiences at dealerships selling cars which he loved because cars were his passion.
Darrin married the love of his life and high school sweetheart Amy Crooks DeLange in June, 2004. Upon doing so he gained four bonus daughters (Lacey, Haley, Sarah and Eliza) who he loved very much. The girls did a great job of preparing him and Amy for the birth of William Talmage in 2010. He considered raising Will one of the biggest blessings of his life.
With a large personality and a large well of kindness within him, Darrin was generous and thoughtful. Darrin enjoyed debating anything and everything and would usually win (or think he had won!) He enjoyed shooting guns, music, movies, and going on long drives. Most of all, he cherished time with his family both immediate and extended. More than any of his educational or career accomplishments, Darrin was proud of his family and had so much love for each of them.
Darrin is survived by his wife, Amy, his bonus daughters Lacey Fullmer (Alec), Haley Haskins (Tyson), Sarah Whittaker (Michael), Eliza Asay (Noah) and his son, William along with three much loved grandchildren Wesley, Harry and Lenny Fullmer. He is also survived by his father Talmage J. DeLange, brother Brett T. DeLange (Janna), sister Colette D. Stucki (David), and eight nieces and nephews.
Please join us as we celebrate Darrin and his life on Saturday, April 22, 2023. Reception to visit with family starting at 9:00 am and services will be held at 10:00 am in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 9621 North 6050 West, Highland, Utah.
