Bill passed away in Provo, UT on August 7, 2023 at the age of 94. He was born on February, 2, 1929 to Isaac Amothy Turner and Hetty Arema Turner at their home in Virgin Utah.
He was the fifth of nine children. He spent his childhood on the family farm.
Bill attended school in Pleasant Grove Utah. After leaving High School, he worked as a crane operator in the Open Hearth at Geneva Steel, retiring after 40 years. He then went on to work for Alpine City in the Maintenance Department.
In 1948 he met the love of his life, Marilyn Devey. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 23, 1950. Together they raised 6 children.
Bill had a love of horses, cars and motorcycles. He also loved Southern Utah and made many trips to the area where he grew up.
During his 94 years he saw many changes, from the horse and buggy to the man on the moon.
Bill is survived by 5 of his 6 children: Craig (Susan) Turner, Jan (Paul) Leavitt, Tracie (Keven) Tolbert, Paula (Eric) Jensen, DeAnne (Kerry) Haut. He was preceded in death by his daughter Shelley Turner. He has 17 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.
Bill’s funeral will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 11:00 am in the Alpine 12th Ward Chapel, located at 910 South High Bench Road, Alpine, Utah. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Friday morning from 9:30-10:30 am prior to services at the church. Interment will follow services at the Alpine City Cemetery, located at 350 North Grove Drive, Alpine, Utah.
