Ruth Armstrong Johnson

1930 ~ 2023

Ruth Johnson, 93 years of age, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023 peacefully in her home surrounded by her daughter, granddaughter, and grandson after her short battle with cancer.

Ruthie was born on February 15, 1930 in Salt Lake City to parents Orson and Martha Armstrong. She was one of 8 children and helped aid in raising her siblings.

Ruth, or as referred to by most “Grandma”, had a life full of amazing stories. She won 42 talent shows in which she would sing and yodel, she was a stock car driver in her 20’s, the most loved waitress by all, avid fisher woman, Wendover penny slot machine lover, and above everything else a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, Aunt and friend. Ruth had a passion for giving and would quite literally give you the shirt off her back. She loved to crochet blankets to give to her loved ones and people she had just met. That was just who she was as a person. It didn’t matter who you were she would become your instant best friend. There wasn’t a person who had met her that didn’t absolutely love her. She had a light about her that was so infectious that you would leave her feeling so lucky just to know her. She had so many stories but a favorite would be the one about her five boyfriends. She was funny, fun and adored by all.

Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by her loving family and friends. Including her only Daughter Chasten (Sandra) Johnson, Granddaughter Chantell Edwards, Great Grandchildren Dayton, Logan and Aubrielle (Abreah), Niece Stacey Perkins and her husband Steve Perkins along with their children Ryder and Wyatt.

The family would like to give they’re thanks to her amazing Hospice staff at Active Home, Health, and Hospice. Especially to her loving nurse and friend Holly Fox.

Friends are invited to celebrate Ruth’s life by attending the viewing and memorial service on September 29, 2023 at Kramer Family Funeral & Cremation Center, located at 2500 Decker Lake Boulevard, Salt Lake City, Utah  84119.
