Nicole Marie Scruggs
Nicole Marie Scruggs
1990 ~ 2023
Nicole Marie Scruggs passed away suddenly on September 27, 2023. She was 33 years old. Nicole was born on February 13, 1990, in Provo, Utah to Darren and Diane Scruggs. She was one of six children, the only girl amongst five brothers.
Known for her quick wit and cheerful disposition, Nicole’s personality was contagious, often leaving her family and friends in fits of laughter. Her crowning quality was her overflowing compassion and her willingness to sacrifice and share. All who crossed paths with Nicole never doubted that she genuinely cared.
She was raised in Utah County, with a brief stint in Colorado Springs, after which her family returned to Utah. After graduating from Lone Peak High School, full of adventure and with suitcase in hand, she moved to the other end of the country to be a nanny.
She had a special place in her heart for children and longed to be a mother. Afterwards, she moved back to Utah and as a registered CNA, diligently cared for the elderly. During this time, she fulfilled her dream and became a stepmother to two beautiful children who she loved dearly.
Nicole was a bright ray of sunshine to all who knew her. As a little girl, her parents would often sing her this song:
You are my sunshine
My only sunshine
You make me happy
When skies are gray
You’ll never know, dear
How much I love you
Please don’t take
My sunshine away
Despite her passing, our “Sunshine” has not dimmed as her spirit lives on and her memory will forever illuminate our hearts. We long for the future day when we will be reunited.
Nicole is survived by her parents: Darren and Diane of Cedar Hills, Utah. She is survived by her siblings: Brandon Scruggs, Brian Scruggs (Jodie), Darren Scruggs, Jr. (Heather), Michael Scruggs (Anne) and Stephen Scruggs. She is also survived by her two stepchildren.
Funeral services of Nicole will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023 at 2:00 pm in the Cedar Hills 10th Ward Chapel, located at 9737 North Chesterfield Drive, Cedar Hills, Utah. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 12:30 to 1:30 pm prior to services at the church. Interment will follow in the American Fork City Cemetery.
