Virginia Mae Kennedy

1935 ~ 2023

Virginia Mae Kennedy of Alpine, Utah passed away at the age of 88, surrounded by her family on October 12, 2023. after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.  Virginia was born (according to her mother) October 9, 1935, or October 10, 1935, according to her birth certificate. 

She was born in Denver, Colorado to Edith Rosenberg Reidelbach (b. Colorado) and Ernest William Riedelbach (b. Illinois).  She is survived by sons Michael Allan Kennedy, Kevin Murray Kennedy, Timothy Robin Kennedy; 8 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren. Her sisters, Barbara Riedelbach Callender, Roberta (Bobi) Riedelbach Tame, Edith (Dolly) Riedelbach Lowe, and John (Bernie) Bernstein.  She was preceded in death by her husband Roger Allan Kennedy (d. 1973) and their son Brian Ernest Kennedy (d. 2011), great-granddaughter Tabitha Adonis Washburn (d. 2016), Sister Ruth Riedelbach Hobbs (d. Jan. 2022), Brother Ernest William Reidelbach (d. Oct. 2022) and Delita Linda Riedelbach (Jan 1984).

Virginia married R Allan Kennedy in 1953 in Alabama and they lived most of their married life in Tonopah, Nevada.  She worked for Educators Mutual in Murray, Utah for many years, retiring in December of 2000 and then volunteered to teach reading at the Alpine elementary school.  She had an infectious love for all whom she would meet and was a powerful listener.  One never felt hurried or that she had someplace better she wanted to be than in your presence.  She attended almost every event her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were involved in.  Over her many years she would help anyone she found to be in need with financial assistance and service.   Ginny was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, having a firm testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ.  She served in many different callings.

All of those she loved and touched deeply please join us to celebrate her life on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at 11:00 am in the Creekside Ward Chapel, located at 327 South Long Drive, Alpine, Utah. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, morning from 9:30-10:30 am prior to services at the church. Interment will follow in the Alpine City Cemetery.
