Lee Reed Dowdle

June 23, 1949 ~ December 27, 2023

It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Lee Reed Dowdle. Lee passed away quietly in his sleep at his home in Laclede, Idaho on 27 December 2023. He joins his wife Karen, sons Peter and Steven on the other side. He was born 23 June 1949 to Reed and Pat Dowdle in Nampa, Idaho as the oldest of 12. He was a graduate of Capital High School in Boise, Idaho where he spent the majority of his growing up. He attended Brigham Young University where he met the love of his life Karen Ann Knudsen. They were married in Provo, Utah on 5 June 1975.

Lee was a worker; he spent a lot of time working to provide for his wife and 6 children. It was difficult for him to turn that working mentality off, even though he loved music and was very musically gifted he only truly had time to develop his talent when he retired and was able to pick up the accordion again. He struggled at times to properly convey his love for his children, but he made a constant effort to learn how to be the best father he knew how to be. He truly showed is love and devotion to his wife when he fully retired from working so he could take care of her, the last years for her life were hard for them both, but he lovingly served and helped her regardless of the hardship.

Those who had the pleasure of knowing Lee knew that he had the gift of the gab and would make friends with everyone he came in contact with, the gas station attendant, the postal worker, the bank teller. All were potential friends to him, more than a few times what should have been a quick 10-minute gas stop would take an hour while he and the store clerk swapped stories.

Lee is survived by four of his six children, Ben, Sean, Corinne, Tim, as well as 17 grandchildren.

Celebration of life for Lee will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 9:30 am in the Warenski Funeral Home Chapel, located at 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah 84003
