James E McClure

1947 ~ 2024

James E McClure, passed away on January 4, 2024. from a stroke.

He was born July 6, 1947 in American Fork, Utah to Kenneth Eugene and Elizabeth Oscarson McClure.

He lived at Soldier Summit as a child and eventually moved to Pleasant Grove. He lived with his siblings Ken, Marvin, Leland, Scott and Suzette.

He was educated in Pleasant Grove and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School and LDS seminary.

He married Shirley Dean of American Fork, Utah. They later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in Pleasant Grove, American Fork, Payson and Valparaiso, Indiana. Together they had three children; Shawn, Colette and Bryan.

He worked at Reams in American Fork as a meat cutter during high school. He then joined the military serving in the special forces. He retired from US Steel working at Geneva and Gary works. He worked for Soldier Summit Estates plowing snow and helping maintain the property. He also worked at the Soldier Summit Station.

He loved to cut firewood and spent countless hours cutting and supplying Utah County with firewood. He loved to hunt, fish, spotlight and be in the mountains. Deer-camp up White River was his favorite place.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Kenneth Sr, mother, Elizabeth, and brothers, Kenneth Jr, and Leland.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley, son, Shawn, daughter, Colette, and son, Bryan. He is also survived by six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 11:00 am in the Warenski Funeral Home Chapel, located at 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday morning from 9:30-10:30 am prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will follow services in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery
