Sherrie Ann Quilter Williams

1947 ~ 2024

Sherrie Ann Quilter Williams returned to the loving arms of our Savior and her sweetheart, Larry Williams on May 24, 2024.

She was born June 18, 1947 in Panguitch, Utah to Alvin Powell Quilter and Reva Miller Rasmussen. At the age of 9, her father was killed in a logging accident. In 1960 her mother married Mark Harris Rasmussen. Sherrie lived near and became very close to her grandparents on both sides. In 1960 her mother married Mark Harris Rasmussen. They eventually moved to Orem where Sherrie attended Orem High School.

Sherrie married her sweetheart Larry Russell Williams September 18, 1970 later sealed in the Manti Utah Temple on August 14, 1973. Together, they lovingly wrangled seven children; Michelle (Darryl) Tonge, Scott (Sadie) Wake, Bryan (Dawnie) Williams, Shane (Holly) Williams, Heather (David) Blackhurst, Cody (Kim) Williams and Travis (Brooke) Williams. Her 23 grandchildren and soon to be 15 great grandchildren, who affectionately call her GG. They are her greatest joy! She loved each in such a way they felt they were GG’s favorite.

Sherrie was that awesome grandmother who shared stories from the skeletons in her past just as comfortably as she shared her conversion to Christ and her testimony. She was relatable and loved others unconditionally. She was a great example of a wife, mother, grandma, GG, and friend. Sherrie is our rock!

Sherrie was the first female hired as a Facilities Manager for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was proud of her humble start as a part time janitor cleaning church buildings. She was so productive in her job, the church had her create the model that other stakes could duplicate. From there, she was promoted to the position she retired from.

Sherrie and her husband, Larry loved their time as camp hosts at Timpanooke for over 8 years. Sherrie served in many callings for the church and she was a trailblazer in each. She was a great leader and adored the scouting program. She and Larry served in Cub Scouts together helping young men progress in rank along the way. They had one group of 11 boys and 10 of them earned the rank of Eagle Scout and 9 of them served missions. She attended Wood Badge training and served as an Eagle Scout Guide and Merit Badge Counselor. She was recognized as “An Influential Woman in Scouting” by the Boy Scouts of America. A favorite quote of Sherrie’s was that “behind every Eagle, there is a Vulture”!

Her sister describes her as a spunky, spitfire and says that once she committed to something, that was it! Sherrie became reactivated in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and she was “all in”. She was never afraid to share her love of our Savior. Her may callings in the church included; Stake Primary Presidency, President of the Young Women, Relief Society Presidency, and she especially enjoyed teaching Gospel Doctrine to the 16 year olds. Sherrie and Larry served a Stake Mission together. In her later years, Sherrie indexed over three hundred thousand documents and served at the Mount Timpanogos Temple.

Favorite hobbies included collecting and restoring antiques, scrapbooking and gardening and at one time, sewing matching clothing for her kids. She was an avid reader and had won awards in High School for her writing. Family traditions were very important to her. Her kids and grandkids will cherish wonderful memories of annual gatherings for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and Family Reunions. Family was 100% of her extracurricular activities and always their priority.

As a family, we are so happy that Sherrie is now reunited with her eternal love, Larry.

Sherrie is survived by her siblings, Ross (Joan) Quilter and Kerri (Eric) Hundly. As well as her step-siblings, Shirlene Hindmarsh, Don Rasmussen, Sondra (LaMar) Mills, Dale Rasmussen. She was preceded in death by; her husband, Larry, parents, Alvin & Reva, stepfather, Mark Rasmussen, brother, Tony Quilter, step-siblings, Ray Rasmussen, Ed Rasmussen, and Kent Rassmussen, grandson Brandon Wood and great granddaughter Luna Pitts.
