Ronald Hal Ward
Ronald Hal Ward
1936 ~ 2024
Ronald was born 10 May 1936 in San Diego, California. Son of John Orlando Ward and Anna Verda Halgren. Younger brother of Corenne Ward Parks and John Heber Ward.
As a young child he survived a bad case of polio and always appreciated his ability to walk and run. He played drums in the Junior High jazz band where his future wife first saw him. He graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in 1954. He was in the Army from 1955-1956 earning honors as a sharp shooter and playing on the baseball team. His commanding officer recommended him to attend West Point Military Academy, though he declined this great honor in order to marry the love of his life and start a family.
Ron married Mona Lue Page in the Los Angeles Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on 9 November 1957. He graduated from San Diego State University in Industrial Management & Engineering and went to work in the Tele-communications Industry rising continuously into upper management in both Pacific Bell and AT&T.
Ron and Mona determined what promotions he would take based on what was best for their family of 5 children. Family always came first. They had great times in San Diego, Walnut Creek and Tustin California. After retirement at age 54 they split time between homes in Sun Lakes Arizona and Alpine Utah.
Ron enjoyed reading, painting, tennis, walking, jogging, playing the guitar, drums, banjo, shooting guns and growing fruit and vegetables. Ron served in many church callings including as a stake Seventy, as well as serving 3 Family History Missions with Mona. He was a member of The Sons of the Utah Pioneers. He loves many friends, wonderful neighbors and gazing at his beloved Alpine mountains. The most important things to him are his wife and posterity.
Ron is survived by: His beloved wife of 67 years, Mona Page Ward of Alpine.
