Lake Curtis Edwards

2002 ~ 2024

On June 1, 2002, Lake Curtis Edwards began his journey on earth, coming into the world as a healthy 10lb baby with a broken clavicle. On October 2, 2024, Lake left this world the way he came in, with a broken clavicle.

Lake was the fourth child and grew up with four sisters who loved and adored his compassionate heart and sassiness. They are bonded by Taylor Swift, Jackbox Games, board games, Survivor, good sushi, and their recent sibling tattoo, “FIVE”.

Lake graduated from Mountainville Academy where he loved most of his teachers, so shout-out to: Miss VanCleave, Mrs. Richardson, Mrs. Trelz, Miss Futrell (Graves), Miss Judd, and Mrs. Bertelson (Baker). Lake’s favorite teacher though was his 6th grade teacher, someone he really loved, Mrs. Edwards. Having his mother teach him was a highlight for both of them. Because of his anxiety in going to school, he shocked his parents when he received the Hope of America award. Since then, he has always kept us on our toes.

Lake had a love for all animals. In 5th grade, he wrote a persuasive essay on the value of owning a pet hamster. Thus began the transformation of the Edwards home into their version of PetSMART. Lake especially loved Simba, our Yellow Labrador, C.C. our first cat, and Miss Rio, his “bare” fronted African parrot. Lake made a drawing of Simba wearing a Santa hat with the saying: OHANA means family and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.

Lake graduated from Alpine School District and from Mountainland Technical College in 2020. He loved and excelled at MTech where he got a pharmacy technician degree. In recent months Lake had decided to get his pharmacy degree and become a pharmacist.

Lake was an accomplished and professional artist, having sold various designs on Red Bubble under the name “Inki-inc”. Lake loved using his time to create games, digital drawings, and play Animal Crossing and Splatoon with his nephews; Oak, Cy, and soon Archer.  Lake was intelligent. He participated on a debate team, a skill he developed and used to his advantage while interacting with his family, and he was an amazing strategist and won almost all the games he ever played!

His sisters were among his best friends. He had other close friends that helped him at different points in his life and we are grateful to them for sharing their hearts and love with him. He was spiritual and in tune with other’s feelings and often surprised those he loved with thoughtful gifts, midnight flowers, or just listening with his whole heart.

Lake embraced being gay which was not always easy, acceptable or convenient. He showed his courage in the face of great adversity by protecting his family in times when we didn’t even know. He never judged others and made friends easily and everywhere he went. He took pride in his makeup, fashion, and a mile-long custom coffee order from Starbucks or Beans & Brew.

We cannot express adequately how your love, thoughtful prayers, acts of kindness, donations and expressions of support lifted us up. It truly felt like a love that allowed us to walk on water.

Lake is survived by his entire family, extended family, Miss Rio, and friends. We look forward to having special experiences with him throughout the rest of our lives.

We love you, Lakey!

Family and friends are invited to an open house reception on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 4:30-6:00 pm at the Warenski Funeral Home, located at 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah. In Lake’s memory please wear colorful bright clothes.
