Richard Hans Williamson, age 100, died October 25, 2024 in Lindon, Utah of incidents due to his age. He was born at home on August 24, 1924 in Pleasant Grove, Utah County, Utah. Richard was the sixth of seven children born to Hans Williamson and Ida Elnora Christiansen.
He was married to Nancy Ann Gilliland of McCutchenville, Ohio on December 27, 1962 in McCutchenville, Ohio and later was sealed to Nancy on May 1, 1964 in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Richard graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in May of 1942. He was an expert in farming and received the award of Outstanding Farmer in 1963 for the Alpine Soil Conservation District. In Richard’s lifetime he started farming with a team of horses and ended utilizing advanced technology. He was known for the superior quality of his crops and the fat cattle he produced.
Richard loved preserving items that were significant in the evolution of farming. He has a great collection of early engines and tractors. It is estimated he restored to use well over 100 of them in his lifetime.
Richard was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He had many service positions over the years, serving in the Young Men’s organization, as a counselor in a Bishopric, on Stake High Councils, High Priest Group Leader, and as a consistent and faithful home teacher. He and Nancy had fond memories of their time volunteering in the Baptistry of the Mt. Timpanogos Temple.
Richard is survived by his four children and their spouses: Robert and Sandy Williamson of Lindon, Utah; Scott and Nancy Williamson of American Fork, Utah; Brian and Ranell Williamson of Sherwood, Oregon; and Connie and Arik Nelson of Lehi, Utah. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Richard’s memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 7:00 pm in the Warenski Funeral Home Chapel, located at 1776 North 900 East American Fork, Utah.
