Loretta Vance Carper was born to Kimball Vance and Alta Amenda Jensen on November 13, 1935. She was the youngest. She had two older brothers.
She met her husband in San Francisco. Loretta and Charles Howard Carper were sealed for time and eternity on June 16, 1961 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Evan Scott Carper was born in Salt Lake City January 12, 1964. She wanted a red head and Chuck wanted a boy. Holly Ann Carper was born July 19, 1965 in Salt Lake City.
They moved to Oregon to be close to family. Eric Vance Carper was born July 25, 1966. Loretta lost her beloved husband in a car accident while he was at work on June 22, 1967. A short 6 months later Melanie Gay Carper was born to the minute of the time Chuck was killed on Dec 22, 1967.
Loretta enjoyed singing, she tried out for the Tabernacle Choir, played the piano and enjoyed writing. She would teach teachers how to teach. She would occasionally take her children to work with her at BYU. She enjoyed traveling to Israel with family.
After Chuck’s passing Loretta spent most of her time with her children where she was outnumbered 4 to 1. She spent the last few years in Wyoming with Eric and Karlene.
Preceded in death by her husband Chuck, brothers Roland Vance and Byron Vance. Father Kimball Vance and mother Alta Vance. Loretta is survived by Evan and Sonya Carper, Klair and Holly Carrol, Eric and Karlene Carper and Melanie Carper.
Funeral services for Loretta will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 11:00 am in the Warenski Funeral Home Chapel, located at 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday morning from 10:00-11:00 am prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will follow services in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
