Eva Jannicke Lindbäck Brewer
Eva Jannicke Lindbeck Brewer
1941 ~ 2025
She kept a nice garden.
That’s what Jannicke asked for her obituary to say. And if you knew her, you’d know that she wanted no fuss, no extra attention, and no fanfare. Just keep it to the simple facts, because that’s who she was.
Eva Jannicke Lindbäck Brewer was born in Stockholm, Sweden, on December 19th, 1941, to Anna Sofia Bruce and Erik Gustaf Lindbäck. She was the oldest of two daughters, with her younger sister, Kari Lindback Kerr. Jannicke came from a long line of strong women who not only cherished their families but were also devoted members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Jannicke emigrated from Sweden to America on her own at the age of 18 to attend BYU, and was soon joined by her sister. She graduated with a B.A. in Fine Arts, and went on to teach art for 3 years. She was very proud of her US citizenship, and felt a deep conviction for her civic duty. She served Alpine city for 27 years on the planning commission, and was a pillar of her community.
Jannicke served the people of northern Sweden on a mission at the age of 21. She served as pianist and organist at countless church functions. She had a great passion for genealogy, with a special interest in translating hand-written Swedish family history records. She found fulfillment in helping preserve and connect her ancestors’ stories.
Jannicke married her sweetheart, Arlin Wayne Brewer, in the Salt Lake Temple in 1968. They raised their four children in their forever home of Alpine, Utah.
Jannicke will also be remembered for her skill with the piano, calligraphy, oil paint, and… her kids’ school posters. Her love for music led to over 30 years helping to organize “Joyful Christmas Sounds” a community choir celebrating Christ each holiday season.
Jannicke dedicated her life to serving her family, and truly showed the pure love of Christ in the simple daily actions throughout her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Through the greatest moments and the hardest times, she was there to love, listen and support.
If you consider the daily efforts and sacrifices, she made to enrich and nourish her family, her faith, her friends and neighbors, her ancestors, and her community; then yes, I guess it suffices to say ‘she kept a nice garden.’ Thank you, Mom, for tending your garden and giving us a beautiful life.
Jannicke re-joins her sister, Kari, after just a month apart. She is survived by her beloved husband, Arlin, their four children: Erik (Jeanette) Brewer, Serianna (Darce) Cox, Brittmarie (Jared) Jenkins, and Carl (Callie) Brewer, 16 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services to celebrate Jannicke’s life will be held January 25, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the High Bench meetinghouse, 910 South High Bench Road, Alpine, Utah. Family and friends may attend a visitation from 9:00 – 10:30 am prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Alpine City Cemetery under the direction of Warenski Funeral Home, American Fork, Utah.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ perpetual education fund.
