Lynn J Finlinson passed away among family members at home in Orem, Utah, and returned to live with his Heavenly Father on January 17, 2025, at the age of seventy-seven.
Lynn is survived by his wife Janet George Finlinson of Orem, Utah; and children, Jeremy Finlinson, Natalie Montgomery (Kurt), Liberty Givens, Michelle Shimmen (Peter), Jamie Monda (Brad), Benjamin Finlinson (Valerie), Adam Finlinson (Stephanie), and Jake Finlinson (Beth). Lynn is preceded in death by his sons Luke Finlinson and Matt Finlinson, and his parents Burnis and Melva Finlinson.
Lynn was born on December 5, 1947, in Payson, Utah, to Burnis and Melva Finlinson. He grew up in Oak City, Utah, and graduated from Delta High School in 1965. Lynn served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Ohio Mission. Following his mission, Lynn met and married Janet George Finlinson from Kanosh, Utah. Lynn was a devoted father to his ten children and cherished his time spent with them. Lynn was also a beloved grandfather to thirty-three grandchildren and one great-grandchild, and he had an amazing talent for exercising patience and service to those around him.
Lynn loved to spend time with his children, family, and friends skiing, golfing, gardening, and going on long drives. Lynn was a devoted elder of the church and served as a Bishop in several congregations. Lynn was a successful entrepreneur, business owner, and sales professional.
Funeral services for Lynn will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 11:00 am in the Hillcrest 6th Ward Chapel, located at 1035 South 800 East, Orem, Utah, 84097. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday morning from 9:30-10:30 am prior to services at the church. A graveside dedication and service will be held the same day at 3:00 pm at the Oak City, Utah, cemetery. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Lynn’s life.
