Hazel A. Perry
Hazel Ann Perry, age 76, passed away on November 13, 2020 surrounded by family. She was born in 1944 in Sheffield, England, to Frank and Doreen Martin, grew up in Shrewsbury, England, then moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, at the age of 19 to be with others of her faith. There, she met her husband, Richard C. Perry, at a young single adult dance; they were married in 1966.
Hazel and her husband lived in Belgium and Holland while Richard was a pharmacist in the military. They eventually settled in Sandy, Utah, for 46 years, where they raised their seven children. Hazel and Richard owned and operated a Reams Pharmacy in Salt Lake City until their retirement.
Hazel truly shared her light with all who came near her; strangers quickly became friends, and each one was comforted by her ready smile and listening ear. She loved sharing her faith in God and serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Hazel enjoyed travelling all over the US and Europe via camper van with her young family. Once her children were grown, their homes became her most frequent and beloved travel destinations. Hazel was an avid reader and could be happy in any situation if she had a book in hand. Hazel loved music and loved to sing with and listen to her family sing, and she loved to listen to her family play musical instruments.
Hazel loved to enjoy green gardens and forests because they reminded her of growing up in England. Yet, the real focus of Hazel’s life was her family; she was always available to love, listen to, care for, and nurture her children and grandchildren. Hazel was a delight to all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband Richard C. Perry; her children Steven M. Perry (Tielynn), Lora A. Perry Chisholm (Troy), David S. Perry (Tracy), Charmaine Talbot (James), Julie Halterman (Ryan), Robert R. Perry (Amber) and Lisa Larsen (Nathan); 27 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her sister Avril Teasdale (Michael); her brother Malcolm Martin (Judy); and her brother John Martin (Marion). Preceded in death by her mother Doreen Martin, her father Frank H. Martin, her sister Dawn Marchant, and her brother-in-law Michael Marchant.
