Allen C. Brown
Allen Carl Brown was born on May 9, 1931 and passed away on December 18, 2020.
Allen’s life was a ride of wonder and full of meaning. Family, friends, and associates made his life rich. Allen married Gay Cederlof on June 6, 1960. Together they had five children: Angelin, Tiffany, Gardner, Hilary, and Annabelle. Allen’s five children meant more to him than words can describe. They are his true treasures. Marriage to Gay was the blessing that brought his children into his life. Allen’s family continued to grow with 28 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Allen recognized the privilege and responsibility of family, especially his role of Father and Grandfather. His grandchildren were the loves of his life, each one thinking they were his favorite grandchild. Allen made sure there were always cups of hot chocolate to drink, poems to read, hikes to discover, motorcycle rides to take, fireworks to buy (even after the moms said no), places to explore, and adventures to experience.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was very important to Allen, serving most of his adult life. From 1980 to 1983, Allen presided as Mission President over the Toronto, Canada Mission with his young family. This was a highlight for Allen. How he loved his missionaries and how the missionaries loved him. Allen’s young family were privileged to be part of that experience. Allen also served an LDS Mission to England, which shaped his life and began a lifelong love affair with the British Isles. Allen shared his love of England with his family, often taking his children and grandchildren to the country the meant so much to him.
Allen’s education came from every day that he lived, whether in work or play. As an adult, Allen loved studying and learning. He followed the proverb “with all your getting get understanding.” Allen was proud of his formal education, which included a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Utah and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan. Allen was supported in his academic endeavors by his parents; they believed in him and undeniably loved him.
Allen knew and was grateful for a vast number of friends, many playing an essential part in his career. Allen was a Financial Planner for Northwestern Mutual. It was a challenging career that asked for the trust of others in both their time and money. Allen honored that trust.
Allen had a lifetime love affair with motorcycles. His adventures included others but were often experienced alone. Allen liked driving fast and admitted to being foolish at times. It was his nature, and we loved him for it.
Allen knew he was blessed beyond measure and made every effort to acknowledge his good fortune in prayer and gratitude. Allen will always be loved by his family: Angelin and John Farr, Tiffany Brown, Gardner and Lisa Brown, Hilary and Tom Call, Annabelle and Mark Stott, his grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers and to honor Allen, take time to express gratitude for all of life’s blessings.
