Spencer L. Tuttle
Spencer Lyall Tuttle, 41, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 4, 2021. Spencer loved fully and completely, and his life was one filled with service. There’s nothing he wouldn’t do for those he loved, and he never, ever left a job unfinished. His greatest joy was time spent with family, and being home was where he wanted to be.
Spencer was born on April 30, 1979 to Robert and Debra Tuttle in Murray, Utah. Always the active spirit, he enjoyed playing golf, football, and baseball with his brothers, while being a fierce protector over his little sister. He was the best brother you could ever have, and the brother everyone wanted. Spencer cherished spending time with his father. He was often found following him around the yard, fixing things, and even learning electrical work at a very young age. His mother was his angel and he constantly looked for ways to serve her. He thought she was the best cook, constantly raving about her BallPark sandwiches and peanut butter swirl bars.
After Spencer graduated from Brighton High School, he served an honorable mission to Buenos Aires North, Argentina. He served the people with his whole heart and never wavered in his testimony of the gospel. He always knew the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was true and exemplified Christ-like love to all those he met. He went on to graduate from the University of Utah with a degree in Business Information Systems.
On August 8, 2001, Spencer was sealed to his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Carrie Hughes in the Salt Lake Temple. They built a family founded on love, laughter, service, and commitment to Christ. He was a good listener and supported Carrie in anything she wanted to achieve. Spencer treasured being a parent more than anything, and adored their three beautiful children. He learned to ski a few years ago and some of his happiest times were on the slopes with his kids. He was so proud of his kids. He enjoyed coaching his son Andrew in soccer and watching him excel in the sport. He made sure to be there for his daughter Kate’s gymnastic meets to cheer her on. He liked taking Adele to the park and watching her play with dolls alongside his home workplace. Recently, he was able to spend 5 weeks in Europe with his family–something that meant so much to him and left within him a desire to travel more. Just last year, they were able to visit Yellowstone, Tetons, Grand Canyon, and Zions. Family was incredibly important to Spencer, and nothing made him happier than spending time with them.
Spencer could do anything he wanted. There was nothing he couldn’t do. Some of his many talents include: fixing cars, remodeling homes, editing floor music for gymnastics, and coaching soccer. He was incredibly smart and enjoyed working for Adobe as a Senior Software Development Engineer. It challenged him in many ways, and he soon became a prominent employee whom many looked to for guidance and support. He valued the relationships made there, and often expressed gratitude at the blessings which came from his work. He was a people person and cherished all his friendships. His blue eyes, dimpled smile, and infectious laugh could truly light up a room. You always felt loved and appreciated after spending time with Spencer.
Spencer’s life was filled with love, service, adventure, and most of all, a deep devotion for his family. Beloved by all who knew him, his loss is deeply felt—but he is never far from our hearts.
Survived by his incredible wife Carrie; children Andrew, Katelin, and Adele; parents Robert and Debra Tuttle; siblings Ryan (Kari), Steven (Jaime), Matthew (Jaron), and Janessa (Ryan); grandmother Marlene Wilson; and many extended family members.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Albert Theodore Tuttle, Marné Tuttle, and Lyall Wilson.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this time. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made online to the Food and Care Coalition, where Spencer was donating his time.
Private family funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 16th at 10:00 a.m. A stream of the services will be available over Zoom.
