Jonathan H. Harvey
On February 14, 2021, our beloved father passed away peacefully to join his sweetheart, Helen Caroline Seely on Valentine’s Day.
Jonathan Hans Harvey was born March 24, 1926, in American Fork, Utah, to Arvilla Sarah Christensen and Leo Paul Harvey. He was the third of six sons.
He met his sweetheart, Helen, while attending BYU. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple September 25, 1946. He was the father of eight children, Michael Harvey (Nola), Janet Garn (Clarke), Debra (Patrick) Holman, Diane (Kirk) Stovall, Paul Harvey, Jeanne (Kaylin) Lloyd, Caroline (Lansing) Smith, and Linda (Doug) Fillmore. He loved his family and was proud of his 36 grandchildren and 96 great grandchildren
He was an ambitious farmer and received the Young Farmer of the Year award. He was a hard worker and could fix anything. In his early married years, he worked at Geneva Steel and General Refractories. He was a prominent Utah County fruit grower and spent many years with the Utah Soil Conservation Service pouring concrete ditches throughout Utah County.
His favorite traditions were taking the whole family bowling on New Year’s Day, family gatherings and reunions. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Alpine Country Club, winning four club championships and didn’t hang up his clubs until he was 92. He also loved bowling, tennis, basketball, football, traveling, and adventure. He followed BYU sports and the Utah Jazz.
He often commented in his later years, “I did everything I wanted to do. I have no regrets.”
He is preceded in death by two older brothers, his wife, two grandchildren, and a great-grandson.
