Our father, Kenneth Eugene McClure, Jr., returned home to his Heavenly Father and eternal sweetheart on September 16, 2021. He was born on September 15, 1941 in American Fork, Utah to Kenneth Eugene, Sr and Elizabeth May Oscarson McClure and had just celebrated his 80th birthday. Ken lived his first eleven years at Soldier Summit, Utah and his teenage years in Pleasant Grove, Utah. He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School and attended Utah Technical College before marrying the love of his life, Dorothy Devey on January 22, 1960 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they lived in Alpine, Utah for over 50 years.

Ken was trained and worked as a machinist, tool and die maker, manufacturing engineer and consultant.  He owned and operated McClure Automotive Machine and Engineering and taught at the Utah Valley Community College. He volunteered with the Alpine Police and Fire Departments, Utah County Sheriff Search and Rescue, Jeep Patrol, Lion’s Club, and Utah Salt Flats Racing Association.  Ken was a licensed private pilot, certified scuba diver and EMT. His greatest satisfaction in life came not from the glory of leadership or technical achievement, but from humble service rendered to a stranger when they were truly in need.

Kenny was very adventurous and always up for a new challenge.  He was passionate about racing his inboard hydroplane boat and 1960 Ford Falcon, the annual hunt at Soldier Summit Deer Camp, the summer family gatherings at Bear Lake, traveling and spending time with his family and friends.

Ken is survived by His children: Clay (Kristie), Cameron (Mary), Lesa (Paul) Pennie and daughter-in-law; Shanna McClure. 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, siblings: James (Shirley), Sue (Doug) Henrichsen, Marvin (Marsha) and Scott (Cheryl) and current wife, Jean Bone and family.  He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife; Dorothy, son; Layne, two grandchildren; Alexa and Jared and brother; Lee. Our family would like to thank Valeo Home Heath and Hospice, the Mountainville 2nd Ward, Meals on Wheels and numerous neighbors and friends for their kindness and support over the years.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021 at noon at the Mountainville 2nd Ward Chapel (Red Brick Church), 165 North 100 East, Alpine, Utah. A viewing will be held Sunday evening at the church from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and an additional viewing at the church on Monday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Alpine City Cemetery.
