Paul Robert Adolphson
Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather Paul Robert Adolphson passed away December 23, 2021 due to kidney failure. He was born June 29, 1945 to James Robert and Evalyn Handley Adolphson in Salt Lake City, Utah. Paul was raised in Idaho Falls, Idaho and Bountiful, Utah.
Paul graduated from Bountiful High School in 1963 and attended Weber State University before serving a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Brazilian Mission. After returning home from his mission, Paul transferred to Brigham Young University where he met his eternal sweetheart, Shirley Faye Widdison. They were married in the Los Angeles Temple on May 31, 1969. For most of their married life they lived in American Fork, Alpine, and currently, Pleasant Grove, Utah. Together they raised eight wonderful children.
Paul graduated from BYU in accounting and went on to get an MBA and CPA. He was a wonderful provider for his family spending most of his career working for Intermountain Health Care. Paul has been a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all of his life and served faithfully in many various church callings. Later in life he was able to serve another full-time mission with his wife, Shirley, for the Church in the New York, New York South mission. After Paul and Shirley returned from their mission they served at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah, as Church service missionaries at the Conference Center, and temple ordinance workers in the Mount Timpanogos Temple.
Paul is survived by his sister Eileen (Jon) Ringwood, brothers John (Julie) Adolphson, Tom (Misty) Adolphson, and Daniel Obert. He is also survived by his wife Shirley, his eight children: Jennifer (Samuel) May, Julie (Ryan) Heywood, Rebecca (Brandon) Kunz, David (Catherine), Ruth, Douglas (Gina), Stephen (Hannah), Sarah (Devin) Andersen. He is also survived by his 22 grandchildren: Rachel (Joseph) Espinoza, Sariah, Hannah, Emma, Jacob, Kate, Allison, Sydney, Bryson, Eliza, Spencer, Evalyn, Madelyn, Joshua, Lola, Isaac, Abigail, Zachary, Maxwell, Elizabeth, William, and Timothy. He is preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, Ruby Mehner Johnson Adolphson, and his brother, Joseph Roger.
We as a family will be forever grateful for his love and example he so abundantly shared with us.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at the Mount Mahogany 8th Ward Chapel, 1541 North 1300 West, Pleasant Grove, Utah. Family and friends may call on Monday, January 3, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the church and again on Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the church prior to services. Interment will be at the Alpine City Cemetery.
