Our beautiful Mother and Grandmother, Dorothy Mae Laird Edwards was born in Delphi, Indiana in her Grandma Dorothy Allen’s bedroom to Glenn and Mary Maxine Allen Laird on September 28, 1941, and passed away December 21, 2021, in Orem, Utah.

She grew up moving back and forth between Delphi, Indiana and Danville, Illinois, having fun and getting into mischief with her Aunt Janet and cousin Sharon Alexander, she stayed close to them her entire life. She was close to her sister Glenda as well and played a big part in her upbringing. Along with her cousins and friends they played kick the can and a game called release, they would play until midnight or 1am since there were no curfews back then. She had to do the ironing every week and, also as a punishment, she hated ironing from then on! She had a lifelong love of reading and as a child spent many hours at the library looking through the books before taking a stack home with her. She loved playing baseball and was on the girl’s baseball team in school and played every chance she got with her husband, children, and the neighbor kids. She played the Tuba during her Jr High School years, it had to have been as big as she was.

She Married Charles M Edwards in Otterbein, Indiana on February 2, 1965. She brought 3 daughters into the marriage and together they had 4 more. The family was sealed in The Los Angeles, California Temple on October 10, 1970, a year, and a half after joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She worked as a nurse and the family called her for advice with every ailment. She was the first female member of the American Fork Ambulance Association and was a member for many years. She loved her grandkids with all her heart, and each one was her favorite for one reason or another. She gave them guidance until she died (you all know what that was). She was funny, loving, and generous to everyone she knew, giving what she had to help someone in need.

She is survived by her daughters, Sherri Hansen (Scott), Christina Broderick, Charlotte Walker (Jesse), Beth Bishop (Terry), and Laura Thompson. 31 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren, 1 great, great granddaughter and her sister Cindy Jones. Preceded in death by her husband Charles, 2 daughters, Julie Broderick and Amy Edwards, her parents and 4 of her siblings. Private services will be held for the family.
