Ervin C. Burrows, 91, of American Fork, Utah was born September 7, 1930 in Springville, Utah to Carl B. and Amy Shakespear Burrows of Mapleton, Utah.
He graduated from Springville high School in 1948. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1950 during the Korean Conflict. He was assigned to the U.S. Irwin, a destroyer. The Irwin was the last ship to leave the battle after the armistice was signed July 1953.
He graduated from Utah State Agriculture College in 1959, with a B.S. degree in Forest and Range Management. His 30-year career as a U.S. District Forest Ranger took him and his family to Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming.
In 1956 he married Colleen Barber of Provo, Utah in the Salt Lake City Temple. They were blessed with a son, Ken B. Burrows and a daughter, Joni Kaye Burrows. Ervin was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many church callings. He especially loved scouting and working with the youth. He was Ward and Stake Young Men’s President, as well as holding many other leadership positions.
Ervin and Colleen served a Church Mission at the St. George Temple Visitor Center and Historic Sites. He was active in civic and community events. He served as President for his local Lion’s Club and chairmaned many community events.
He enjoyed fishing, hiking, skiing, hunting, gardening and having a beautiful yard. His number one hobby was photography. His family’s life history is documented on film. His wife told him that when she came back in another life, she wants to be his camera!
Ervin worked hard and played hard. He and his wife created a successful Marketing and Consulting Business. They traveled in a big beautiful motor coach to the east coast of Canada and the west coast of Canada, Mexico, and across the beautiful United States. Ervin’s health began to decline so they purchased a townhome in St. George, Utah and began a new chapter in their lives. They enjoyed cruising with friends, neighbors and family.
Ervin loved his son, Ken (Laurie) Burrows and his daughter, Joni (Ed) Ehrenberger and his 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and his 2 great-great grandchildren and was very proud of them all. Ervin is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, 1 brother, 3 sisters and a sister-in-law. Ervin passed away in his home with his sweet wife by his side after having suffered over 13 years with Parkinson’s Disease.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 11:00 am in the American Fork 14th Ward Chapel, located at 1100 East 400 North, American Fork, Utah, Family and friends may call on Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30 am prior to services at the church. Interment will take place in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery located at 1997 South 400 East in Springville, Utah at 3:00 pm. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.warenski.com
