Rulon Nixon

1942 – 2022

After a long struggle with CLL, complications of a hemorrhagic stroke, and pneumonia, Rulon Nixon passed from this life to the next on February 22, 2022.  He was surrounded by family and friends at his Highland, Utah home.

Rulon was born on September 22, 1942, in Holden, Utah to his parents, Richard LaMar Nixon and Phyllis Carling. He was the youngest of three boys, Ronald LaMar Nixon (deceased) and Joseph Verdon Nixon. He married Billie Jean Gerome on September 27, 1961 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and were happily married for over 60 years. They were blessed with three girls, Cindie, Wendy and Kerry. Rulon loved to tell others how proud he was of his daughters said that they were his greatest accomplishment.

Rulon served in many capacities for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He served in the youth organization, Sunday School, bishoprics, as a temple worker and primary teacher. His most loved calling was with the young adults as a bishop, two different times.

He began his career as a project manager. His hard work and dedication to his career is evidenced by his final position as President and CEO of University Mechanical.  He retired at age 55 and started his own construction company in Utah Valley.  In his later years he acquired real estate in Utah and Montana to keep him busy.

Rulon was best known for his love of people and was a friend to all who knew him. Rulon loved working in the yard, skiing, snowmobiling, camping and boating. Most of all he loved to ride four wheelers with his wife.

Rulon is survived by his wife, Billie and children, Cindie Roberts (Rick), Wendy Ward (Dave) and Kerry Nielsen (Ryan). His beloved grandchildren are: Brayden Roberts, Hunter Roberts, Jereme Roberts, Ashley Spurlock, Whitney Carpenter, Kennedee White, Mattisen Fielding, Taylor Hatch and Carter Nielsen.  He has eight great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 11:00 am in the Highland 7th Ward Chapel, 5212 Country Club Drive, Highland, Utah. A viewing will be held Monday evening, February 28, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Warenski Funeral Home, 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah. Rulon will be buried at the Highland Cemetery in Highland, Utah.
