Ronald C Simpson
Our beloved father, Ronald Simpson, passed away in his home surrounded by his family. We are grateful that we were able to spend so much time with him at home. He came home from American Fork hospital on hospice suffering the effects of Covid and pneumonia. At home, he showed steady improvement for about 2 weeks. We are so happy we had that time with him and have many treasured memories we hold dear to our hearts. He got a lot of visits from both family and friends. We miss him terribly and look forward to the day we are reunited in Heaven.
He is the kindest soul you will ever meet. He spent his time helping others and making friends everywhere. There is not a person he would not talk to. He is always making family and friends smile. He is happiest spending his time with family, horses, being outdoors, and making others happy. He enjoyed the outdoors so much and loves taking photos and making videos. Lately, he had taken up making sour dough bread from a starter. He loved to travel the countryside in his van and RV. We are comforted to know he will be reunited with his wife Dian whom he has unbearably missed for the past 7 years. He will have the pleasure of meeting his 2 grandchildren, Elsie and Daniel, and being reunited with his parents and other family members who preceded him in death.
He is known by all of his neighbors for walking the dogs, stopping to chat, and lending a helping hand. If you need a tool, he has it… just give him a day to find it. His neighbors from San Jose fondly recall his windsurfing up and down the street on a makeshift skateboard. He is very creative. He worked as a computer engineer and had several jobs that he enjoyed. He was very active, even skiing in the park right before he got Covid. Ron was born to Charles and Kathryn Simpson. He grew up on a farm in Hooper Utah. He has fond memories of his childhood playing with his siblings in the barn, working on the farm, riding horses, and playing with pets.
After graduating high school, Ron enlisted in the United States Marine Corps serving in Florida, California, Okinawa, and the Philippines where he was trained in the diagnosing and repair of radio equipment. After an honorable discharge, he enrolled in Weber State College and graduated with a BS in Electronic Engineering Technology. Later, he attended San Jose State University where he graduated with a Master’s in Computer Science while working full time and raising his first child.
He worked for Hill Air Force Base, IBM, Tandem, Compaq, and Hewlett-Packard. He even taught at San Jose State University for a year. He is so smart that he could answer any question or know where to find the answer. He loved deeply and you felt it. Ron is survived by his 3 children Brian Simpson, Bryce (Teri) Simpson, Amy (Brian) Letterman, his 3 sisters Lorraine (Mike) Lavelle, Loretta (Brent) Julander, Beverly (Mose) Watkins, grandchildren Nathan Simpson, Alyssa (Jakob) Garlick, McKale Simpson, Summer Simpson, Ethan Simpson, Connor Simpson, Alexia Simpson, Hayden Letterman, Carson Letterman, and great grandchild Addie Garlick.
