Joseph K Heaps

1954 – 2022

Joseph K Heaps passed away in the morning hours on April 23, 2022 in Provo, Utah, while surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He courageously fought a year long battle with brain cancer.

Our Father, Grandfather, Brother and Friend has returned to his beloved wife and our Heavenly Father.

He was born July 31, 1954 in American Fork, Utah to Elmer Dwayne and Shirley Ann Brown Heaps. He was raised in Alpine, Utah. He was the fourth of five children. Growing up, he loved tending to the farm animals that they had the privilege of raising.

He attended Alpine Elementary, American Fork Jr. High and High School, graduating in 1972.

He served a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the region of Alaska – British Columbia, Canada from 1973 – 1975.

In June of 1977, he married the love of his life Boni Bell, in the Provo LDS Temple. They soon started a family and enjoyed serving on the Alpine City Volunteer Fire Department together along with his father in-law and brothers. They stayed in Alpine until 1989 and then moved to Orem, Utah where they finished raising their children. Later, Joseph and Boni moved to Springville, Utah and enjoyed a period of empty nesting until the passing of his wife, after which settled him in Provo.

He is survived by his Children – Jami Heaps (Loren), Mandi (Josh) Young, AJ (Melissa) Heaps, Tanner Heaps (Robyn) Grandchildren – M’Tali, Dallin, Dakoda, Logan and Easton Young; Taya, Jayden and Avery Heaps; Kaydee, Zack and Levi Heaps and Great Granddaughter Evelynn Heaps. Brothers – Tom Heaps, Mark (Laurie) Heaps. Along with many, many other extended family members, whom he loved dearly.

He is preceded in death by his Wife, Boni Bell Heaps; Father and Mother, Elmer and Shirley Heaps; Sister and Brother-in- law, Connie and Jim Maland; Brother and Sister-in-law, Adin and Susan Heaps and Sister-in-law Susan Heaps.

Funeral Services for Joseph will be held Friday, April 29, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sunset 10th Ward Chapel, located at 1402 South 570 West, Provo, Utah. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the church building and additional viewing will be held from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. at the church on Friday morning, prior to Services.

The family wishes to express their gratitude and appreciation to the Intermountain Cancer Center at Utah Valley Hospital and the incredible staff with Intermountain Homecare and Hospice, for the wonderful care and compassion they all showed to our Father.
