Margene Going Stringham

1929 – 2022

Our sweet mother, Margene Going Stringham, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022, at the home of her daughter, in Alpine, Utah.  She was born October 18, 1929, in Bennington, Idaho, to Claude B. Going and Ella Humpherys.

Margene was raised on a farm in Moreland, Idaho and along with her 11 brothers and sisters, learned to work hard.  Hoeing beets was her least favorite thing to do.  She married her sweetheart, Kay Stringham, in the Idaho Falls Temple on October 21, 1949.

Mom and dad lived in California, Hawaii, and Washington, before retiring to Cedar Hills, Utah in 1998.  She was an avid fan of BYU and the Utah Jazz.  Margene will be remembered as a caring and loving woman who spent her life thinking of others.  There was always a casserole on the cupboard when we got home from school, waiting to be shared.  She always surrounded herself with her friends and family, which is where she felt most comfortable and loved.

She loved serving with dad in the Mount Timpanogos Temple for over 12 years.  She loved the temple.  She was able to attend the temple for the last time just three months ago.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Kay, her granddaughter, Angela Nelson and her son-in-law, Dean Bailey.  She is survived by her children Denise Nelson (Gary), Randy Stringham (Susan), Nancy Yost, Betty Jo Bailey, Janette Weaver (Josh) and Richard Stringham.  She was also dearly loved by her 21 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren.

Family, friends, and others whose life Margene touched are invited to a attend viewing at Warenski Funeral Home, 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah 84003, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday July 1, 2022, to reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, just chat.    A private, family graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at the Highland City Cemetery.
