Beatrice Fay Hill Tyler
1934 – 2023
Beatrice Fay Hill Tyler, after 89 years, completed her earthly mission on March 27, 2023 and returned to her Savior and her loved ones that have previously passed on. She was surrounded by her daughters as she peacefully slipped away.
Bea was the beloved daughter of James Franklin Hill and Hildegard Ingeborg Trost of Idaho. She was the third child and first daughter of five children. She grew up in a loving home that was filled with teasing and laughter. Her family moved a few times while in Idaho and settled in Walla, Walla, Washington when she was 10 years old. It was there that her family joined the LDS church which was pivotal to the choice she made to attend college at Brigham Young University, where she met her husband.
On June 5, 1953, she married Kent Brown Tyler in the Salt Lake Temple. They worked hand in hand raising and providing for their family of eight children on a small farm in Reedley, California
Bea taught her family by love and example. Her greatest strength was her desire to serve her family, neighbors, and community. She also served in many stake and ward callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Bea and Kent served for many years in the Los Angeles and Fresno Temples which was a great source of joy to her. The foundation of all her service stemmed from her deep love of God and her Savior.
Bea was an incredible homemaker. Her cooking skills were admirable as she daily fed not only her large family but also many friends and neighbors. Her family loved her homemade cinnamon rolls, persimmon cookies, nectarine sauce, and fresh bread smothered with homemade strawberry or boysenberry jam. She often shared her baking skills with others such as teaching a four-week bread-making class at the Reedley Community College.
When her nest was empty of children, she enjoyed making colorful baby blankets to donate to children’s hospitals and the local police force for traumatized children. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and collecting bells.
She loved her family more than anything else in her life and always wanted to be with them. Her deepest desire was that her family stay together and love each other.
Bea is survived by her eight children, Verl A. Tyler (Robin), Valerie Halls (Rick), Duane I. Tyler (Diane), Kenneth D. Tyler (Kelly), Laura Karrasch (Craig), Lynn Tyler, Dan K. Tyler (Shawnee), David A. Tyler, 28 Grandchildren, and 40 great-Grandchildren. Sister, Bonnie James, and Brother-in-law, Bob Blattner.
