Lisa F. Heath

1953 – 2023

Lisa Karen Fitzgerald Heath was born in Takoma Park, Maryland on October 10th, 1953, to Sherman (Ph.D.) and Bula Fitzgerald, the third of four children.

The family moved many times, even venturing to British Guiana, though always considering California home. Lisa was a kind and generous child, known for her love of cooking and baking which she learned from her Grandma Olsen. Lisa was a talented violinist, pianist, and vocalist, following in the footsteps of her father. Musical theater was a passion throughout her life.

After graduating high school, she attended the University of Redlands before transferring to Brigham Young University where she completed a Bachelors of Arts in Family Studies in 1977.

She served an LDS mission to Quebec, Canada where she further developed her deep testimony of God and used her many talents to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. Lisa served as one of the first ever female mission leaders as part of a Church pilot program. During her mission she met Mark Heath, whom she later married in June of 1979 in the Manti Temple.

Lisa was blessed with six children and lived in many places including California, Saudi Arabia, and New Mexico.

She homeschooled her children, and later continued sharing her love of learning as a professional educator.

Following her divorce, Lisa moved to Utah and began teaching 4th Grade at Lakeview Academy, later becoming an Administrator. Known for her infectious smile, constant enthusiasm, and unending support, she was an integral part of Lakeview while influencing countless lives. It was during these years that Lisa welcomed Shawnna into her life, embracing her as a daughter.

Lisa was a passionate follower of Jesus Christ. She held numerous LDS Church callings including Relief Society President, Young Women’s President, and Choir Director. She was an ardent student of the scriptures and found fulfilment from teaching seminary and Sunday School over the years. She had an unmatched ability to see the daily tender mercies that demonstrated the grandeur and love of God. She truly was a window to God’s love to countless people.

In August of 2022 she was diagnosed with acute leukemia, beginning a courageous nine-month battle, to which she finally succumbed after a valiant fight. Lisa passed away at home surrounded by her family early Friday March 31, 2023.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Kate, and granddaughter Olivia. Lisa is survived by her sister, brother, six children (Mandy El Halta, Britney Croad, Abigail Purdie, Bethany, Conor, Trevor) and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services for Lisa will be held Saturday April 8, 2023 at 4:00 pm in the Eagle Mountain 3rd Ward Chapel, located at 1330 East Ira Hodges Scenic Parkway, Eagle Mountain, Utah 84005. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing from 1:30-3:30 pm prior to services at the church. Interment, Ephraim Park Cemetery, Ephraim, Utah
