Jared Martin Isaacson
Jared Martin Isaacson
1975 – 2023
On the evening of July 12th, 2023, our dear Jared Martin Isaacson passed away unexpectedly in his favorite spot in his cherished backyard, where he often retreated to enjoy a campfire, watch the stars, and seek peace. And though we miss him and mourn for his loss, we are glad to know that he has found the ultimate peace as he was greeted in heaven by many beloved family members whom he has long waited to embrace.
Jared was born September 11, 1975, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Jeff and Kathy. Jared grew up in a filled-to-the-brim home with his mom and stepdad, Dee, seven brothers, and a dog named Rambo. The family moved often during Jared’s childhood. During his high school years, Jared played football and loved any activity that took him outdoors—hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping—especially if it involved his best friend, Jason Blake. Jared graduated from Pine View High School in 1994 and soon after was called to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Chile Santiago West Mission, where he wore holes in the soles of his shoes and fought off wild dogs with rocks. In Chile, Jared discovered a natural talent for connecting deeply with people. He loved the Chilean people and treasured serving them, teaching them, and creating many friendships.
After returning home from his mission, Jared married and settled in St. George, where he first realized his favorite dream of being a dad. After several years of marriage, circumstances changed, and Jared moved to Lindon, Utah, to his home with the giant backyard.
Several years later, Jared reconnected with the sister of a childhood friend and discovered the love of his life. On March 28, 2020, Jared and Allyson had a unique Covid drive-in wedding in the mountains, and though Allyson gave him a handsome wedding ring, Jared fell into the habit of wearing a band from a broken Fenwick fishing pole that fit his finger perfectly, and his personality even more perfectly. Jared and Allyson worked hard to create a beautiful home and a wonderful life for themselves and their kids and have treasured every moment of their too-brief time together.
As a big goofball grown-up child, Jared has always been a baby whisperer. With his calming, patient spirit and fun-loving heart, he could soothe any tears and make every child smile. Jessica, Corinn, Lewis, Darren, Hailey, Brynn, and Carter feel privileged to have such a tender-hearted father who is both goofy and spiritual and, most importantly, their best friend. They’ve always known through his words and actions that they were the top priority of his life and his whole world.
Jared was always trying to improve himself. He was a hard worker and loved to learn. He was very proud to return to school later in his life, attending Utah State University for two years. He enjoyed learning about various subjects, including animal science and radiology and truly loved being called an Aggie.
Jared’s soul belonged to nature. His calloused hands were testaments to his love of fishing, camping, gardening, chopping wood for his nightly summer campfires, and his patience with the stupid chickens. He single-handedly kept the trout population of Strawberry Reservoir under control. And although he would never admit it, he had a tender spot for the family cats and was often found in the early morning hours, snuggling with his favorite, Fatty.
Jared was the glue of his family, always bringing people together. He knew the name of every cousin, niece and nephew, neighbor, and relation. As a devoted son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend, he was the laugh at every party and enjoyed hosting them in his gorgeous backyard. Jared was a listening ear, a calming voice, and a gentle smile.
Everyone blessed to know Jared soon learned that he was always more focused on others than himself, drawing people in, loving and serving, connecting, and spreading cheerful love. He was faithful at checking in with his kids every night and never missed an opportunity to tuck them in, whether at home or over the phone.
Jared is survived by his beautiful wife, Allyson; his kids, Jessica (Buggy) and Jennings (Son), Corinn (Rinny), Lewis (Lewy), Darren (Baby D), Hailey (Haileyyyyyy), Brynn (Brynnie), and Carter (Junior); his mother and step-father, Kathy and Dee Stevens; step-mother Lula Isaacson; seven brothers, one sister, many in-law siblings; and many nieces and nephews who will always adore their favorite Uncle “Ja-wed.” He is preceded in death by his father, Jeffrey Martin Isaacson, brother Ben Isaacson, step-sister Keri Lyn Stevens, niece Elora Lyn Isaacson, and Uncle Ed Stevens.
Hey Daddio, you will live on in our hearts, and we will always see you in the ways we use the skills you helped us learn and the talents you passed on to us, in the compassion you taught us to show to others, and in the way you were our example to keep going, no matter what. You were the best missionary, and your legacy will carry on through our family and other families because of your work, service, and example. We know that you are in God’s hands and that you will be waiting anxiously to greet us when we see you again. “Your [family is] well; they are in mine hands, and I will do with them as seemeth me good; for in me there is all power” (D&C 100: 1).
You da’ man.
