Cherished and beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Sally Brette Simmons Butler, of Cedar Hills, Utah, age 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 7, 2023.

She was welcomed into the world by her loving parents, Hobart L. Simmons and Thelma Johnson Simmons, on October 6, 1936 in Wattis, Carbon County, Utah. She married the love of her life, Fred Watt Butler, in 1954 in the Manti Utah Temple. Eternal jitterbug partners, Sally & Fred danced their way through life together for 54 years.

“This is the true measure of love, when we believe that we alone can love, that no one could ever have loved so before us, and that no one will ever love in the same way after us.” -Goethe

Sally spent her life devoting herself to her family, raising her children, and continually showering them with unconditional love. She radiated light, love, and laughter, and had a gift for making each of us feel special, always. Gifted as a master peacemaker, she had a way of uniting us all.

She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she faithfully served in many church callings and was a valiant and enduring disciple of Jesus Christ.

She is preceded in death by her husband Fred; sons Jeff and Brad; and survived by sister Tamela Simmons Morris; sister Vonny Stuart; son Greg (Cecelia) Butler; daughter Taffi Demmons; daughter Keelee Butler; daughter Marcie (Jared) White; ten grandchildren, Eric, Amber, Ryan, Ashley, Sara, Emily, Ben, Jon, Annie and Stephanie; and six great-grandchildren, Jordan, Dylan, Aero, Nova, Vivian and Brianne, who stand as one in love and “Salute” her! (means I love you and don’t forget it!)

The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the wonderful caretakers at Pointe Meadows Health and Rehabilitation in Lehi, Utah and A Plus Home Care and Hospice for their compassionate and exceptional care of our sweet Sally.
