Bradley Albert Cattermole

1952 ~ 2024

Bradley Albert Cattermole, beloved coach, inspiring teacher, patient father, grandfather and gracious friend returned to his Heavenly Father, parents and late family January 5th, 2024. He was 71 years old and passed away peacefully in his sleep in Cedar Hills, Utah.

Brad was born on March 19th, 1952 as the first son of Eugene Richard Cattermole and Beverly Lorene Droll in Storm Lake, Iowa. He has two brothers Steve and Terry. When he was 5 years old his family moved to Southern California where he surfed, played baseball and had a love for skiing. After graduating from Westchester High School in 1970, Brad served as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Lima, Peru. After returning home he enrolled at Brigham Young University on a gymnastics scholarship, to be closer to the “greatest snow on earth”. While attending BYU he excelled as a gymnast and student. At the age of 23, he was asked by his friends to play a round of golf. He thought at the time “Why in the world would I want to go out and hit a little white ball around a golf course?” After playing his first round of golf he was hooked and has been an avid golfer since. While at BYU, Brad met his eternal companion Dawn Niedert, who was successful in convincing him to marry her in August 1975.

In 1976, Brad and Dawn opened All American Gymnastics out of Orem, UT and shortly after moved their small family to Cedar Hills. While coaching and operating All American, Brad accepted the position of Head Coach for the BYU Women’s Gymnastics team in 1988. Taking them to 9 National Championships, 3 times finishing in the top 10, as well as qualifying for regionals 24 out of the 26 years he coached. In 2015, he retired from BYU and became a self-proclaimed “full time retired golfer” as a member of Alpine Country Club. Alpine became a home away from home for him where he made numerous lifelong friends, participated in many golf tournaments and golf excursions and even served on the Board of Directors.

Brad is survived by his wife Dawn and his three sons and their wives: Brad Jr and Corinn Cattermole, Brett and Christy Cattermole and Mark and Aubrie Cattermole; four granddaughters: Ava Cattermole, Ella Cattermole, Emma Cattermole and Kyndri Cattermole; six grandsons: Taylin Cattermole, Kyson Cattermole, Mason Cattermole, Mckoy Cattermole, Braxton Cattermole and Caleb Cattermole. Also, his two brothers: Steve Cattermole and Terry Cattermole.

He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene Cattermole and Beverly Cattermole.
