Michael Dean Walker

1944 ~ 2024

Michael Dean Walker passed away peacefully on February 15, 2024, in Springville, Utah. Michael was born January 18, 1944, in Coalville, Utah, just seven minutes before his twin brother Marcus Don. He was born to Arthur Dean Walker and June Lorraine Neel Walker. Mike and Marc were 18 months old before their father got to meet them, because he was serving overseas as a military policeman during World War II.

Mike was raised in Kamas, Utah, and graduated from South Summit High School in 1962. He enjoyed music and enjoyed playing the cornet in his high school band.  After high school, Mike served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southern Australian mission.

After he returned from his mission, Mike got a job working at a mortuary in Cedar City, Utah. This led him to his career as a mortician, and he worked in that profession in California and Oregon for over 40 years. Upon retirement, he moved back to Utah.

Mike was a very kind, understanding, and patient person. He spent the last seven years in a care center without complaint, as his mortal body declined and he became bedridden.

We express our sincere appreciation to Nicole and Simon, his hospice caregivers, who took such good care of him and were truly committed to meeting his needs.

Mike is survived by his sisters, Jeannie (Bill) Baker, Judy (Wally, deceased) Church, and Susan (Dalen J) Harris; a brother, Kelly (Angela) Walker; and 20 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, Marc.

Graveside services for Michael will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery, located at 500 North Main Street, Pleasant Grove, Utah.
