Nancy Shurtliff Reynolds

July 2, 1946 ~ March 1, 2024

American Fork – March 1, 2024, was a day of heartbreak for our family, as we had to say goodbye for now to our precious wife, mom and grandma, Nancy Reynolds. We deeply grieve her loss, yet we are rejoicing for her – as we know she is finally free of the pain and suffering she so patiently and gracefully endured for many years.

Born on July 2, 1946, in Salt Lake City, to Fred and Vella Shurtliff, Nancy enjoyed a delightful childhood roaming the hills of Bountiful, Utah. She graduated from Bountiful High School and attended both BYU and the U of U. While at BYU, she met the love of her life, her loving and devoted husband, Harold Reynolds.

Harold and Nancy were married and Sealed on May 28th, 1966 in the Logan LDS Temple, and were subsequently blessed with five choice children: Eric, Jane, Jared, Nate, and Melinda.  They had many wonderful life adventures, building their family home on Carterville Rd in Orem, and moving many times, to Missouri, California, and Arizona, before returning to finally settle again in Utah.

Nancy is a beautiful lady who loved to visit beautiful places. Vacations to the oceans, the mountains, Mexico, and especially cruises, were very happy times! She was an incredible cook and a delightful entertainer. She had a fun sense of humor and loved playing games, curling up with a good book, and having lunch and shopping dates with her sisters and daughters. Nancy also enjoyed working outside of the home for several years (Deseret Book, Feature Films for Families, and as a property manager), but loved most of all being with her family and hosting family gatherings.

Nancy was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She served in the Relief Society, Young Women’s, and Primary organizations and was also an incredible support, sustaining Harold in his callings. She had a giving heart and spent her life serving her family and others.  There were many recipients of her wonderful meals and helping hands.

Nancy’s children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren are the joy of her life! Her family is everything to her, but Harold owned her heart. She didn’t want to leave him, and fought incredibly hard to stay here with him as long as she could. We are so very grateful to Dad for his sweet and loving care of her.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, four of her siblings, and daughter Melinda. She is survived by her husband Harold, her children Eric (Wendy), Jane (Steve Copier), Jared (Felicia), Nate (Erin), son-in-law Paul, by 23 precious grandchildren, 18½ adorable great-grandchildren, and sister, JoAnn.

Funeral Services for Nancy will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 11:00 am in the American Fork 38th Ward Chapel, located at 270 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah. Family and friends are invited to attend a gathering on Friday morning from 9:30-10:30 am prior to services at the American Fork 38th Ward Chapel. Interment will follow services in the American Fork City Cemetery.

Our family expresses sincere gratitude to Nancy’s many doctors and nurses – and to Dignity Hospice. We are most grateful for their wonderful care! And, thanks to Warenski Funeral Home for their excellent service!
