Harold Cook Bateman

1942 ~ 2024

Harold (Harry) Cook Bateman passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 17th, 2024, after a courageous battle from complications of diabetes. Harry was born August 6th, 1942 to Ray Clark and Esther Cook Bateman.

He lived in Alpine his entire life and loved it. Often sharing adventurous stories of camping, hunting, and hiking in the low hills of the surrounding mountains with cherished childhood friends.

He married Lynn Clemens on August 9th, 1963 and the marriage was later solemnized in the Provo LDS temple. After Lynn’s passing, Harry later married Maria Bailon on October 8th, 2017 and the marriage was later solemnized in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple.

Harry worked and retired from the Utah Department of Transportation where he forged lifelong friendships. Throughout his life he continued to enjoy camping, fishing, cooking, gardening and working outdoors in his yard, but most of all Harry cherished the love of his family. 

Survived by, his wife Maria Bateman of Alpine, his children Tedi Bateman of Alpine, Debi (Shane) Tea of Highland, Chet (Cheri) Bateman of American Fork, Jose Bernall of Cortez, Colorado, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his wife, Lynn Clemens Bateman, his parents Ray and Esther Bateman, his brothers David Ray and Douglas Grant Bateman and sister Maxine Bateman Covington.

There will be a public viewing on Wednesday, May 22nd from 6-8 pm, at the Alpine 8th Ward Chapel. 890 North Heritage Hills Drive Alpine, UT. A graveside service will be held on Thursday May 23rd at 10:00 am at the Alpine City Cemetery. Family and close friend visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 am on Thursday May 23rd at the Alpine 8th Ward Chapel.
