Michael Ryan McNamara

1984 ~ 2024

Michael Ryan McNamara, a cherished individual known for his enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor, left us on September 3, 2024 in American Fork, Utah. He was 40 years old. Born on January 13, 1984 in Arlington, Texas, Michael loved to make others laugh. He was the eldest of four and a great son, nephew, uncle, and cousin to all. He was the oldest of 26 cousins on his mother’s side and one of ten on his father’s side.

One of Michael’s greatest accomplishments was serving a full-time mission in Everett, Washington from 2003-2005 for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. On his mission, he was known as “Scripture Master McNamara” because he memorized more scriptures than anyone else.

Michael had a strong passion for baseball. It was the most important thing in his life, second to family. He especially loved playing in the softball rec league with his siblings, uncles and cousins, which combined his two greatest passions. He loved movies, playing games with family and learning about history. He was known for his “Mike Facts,” facts that could either be true or completely false, just to make people laugh. He was a great friend to all and loved creating nicknames for everyone. Michael treasured his trips around the world with his family and extended family. His entire family was the light of his life and he cherished every moment he had with them.

Michael is survived by his parents, Ladd McNamara and Susan Smith, his younger siblings, Brandon, David, Julianne and their spouses, his nieces, nephews and grandparents, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

The family deeply appreciates your support during this difficult time. While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering and he is with our Savior and Heavenly Parents.

We love you, Mike. Until we meet again.

Funeral services for Michael will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 11:00 am in the Sunset Hills Ward Chapel, located at 1152 North 400 West American Fork, Utah 84003.
