Norman Lee Wilkinson
1947 ~ 2024
Norman L. Wilkinson crossed the veil on September 24, 2024 to be reunited with his parents, siblings and daughter.
Norm was born in Huntington Park, California and grew up loving the beach and swimming. He was the second child of Andrew and Mary Wilkinson. He went to part of Elementary school in Laie Hawaii while his parents were on a service mission to help build what is now BYU Hawaii. He was a lifeguard on the beach when he was a teenager. He swam competitively throughout his life. He chose to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints instead of trying out for the Olympics. He served in Argentina and retained his ability to speak Spanish throughout his life.
Norm went to BYU and graduated in Accounting. There he met the love of his life. He was from the city and Peggy was from the country. They married in the LDS temple in 1971.
Norm and Peggy raised 5 children. They moved their family 18 times in the first 26 years between 5 states while Dad helped establish the Thrifty Nickel franchise. Finally, they settled in Utah County to run the Thrifty Nickel. In almost all of the wards he lived in he was called as the financial clerk. He also served in many other callings. He also volunteered at the Missionary Training Center helping missionaries practice talking to people in various settings at the Training Resource Center.
Norm ran his own accounting business later in life and worked at the BYU bakery. He worked as an ordinance worker at the Timpanogos Temple for the last 10 years, as well. He was his happiest when working at the temple.
He is survived by his wife Peggy, sister, Francine (Dave) Underwood, children Norman (Rachel), Tina, Randy, and David. Grandchildren Katie (Joe) Hunt, Lindy, Emily (Derek)Christensen, Haley, Aubrey and Lily, and Great grandsons Jason and Samuel. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 siblings and his daughter, Cheryl.
