Kathryn Todd Pehrson
Kathryn Todd Pehrson
1953 ~ 2024
Kathryn Todd Pehrson passed away in her home on November 19, 2024 due to complications of an unexpected stroke which she suffered a few weeks earlier. Kathryn was the fifth of five children born to Glenn and Iryse Todd in Murray, Utah on March 18, 1953. Kathryn often spoke of her parents and siblings, always with great love, admiration, and adoration. Kathryn grew up in a very loving home where she gained a strong relationship with the Savior early in her life. She was athletic and loved playing all sports, especially softball, volleyball, and
basketball. However, she excelled the most in bowling, where she was the top bowler in many of the leagues she participated in and was also president of her bowling league for quite a few years. She also developed a beautiful singing voice in her life. Among other talents Kathryn acquired in her life was the ability to cook, organization and cleanliness, and the gift of laughter.
Kathryn loved the outdoors. Whether it was a week at Bear Lake, hiking Lake Mary trail near Brighton, camping at Payson Lakes, a picnic at Redman Campground in Big Cottonwood Canyon, or anywhere else, she loved the outdoors. Kathryn also had a passion for, and was very good at, board and card games of all types. She loved the competition and strategies, but mostly she just enjoyed playing, laughing with, and spending time with close friends and family.
Three years after high school, Kathryn married Alan Pehrson, the love of her life and eternal companion, and together raised five children. Throughout her life, she proudly expressed that she was a “stay-at-home mom” and homemaker. It was extremely important to Kathryn to teach her children many practical things about life. But, by far, the most important was to teach her children faith, love of and obedience to the Lord, and the power of prayer.
In her later years, Kathryn experienced the challenges that come with mental and physical health. She gained a tremendous amount of patience and an extra measure of inner strength. Kathryn prayed every day, loved the Lord more than life itself, and loved and served all of those around her throughout her entire life. It was very normal for everyone around her to feel like they were a close or best friend, even if her interaction with them was brief or singular.
A few weeks before she passed, Kathryn had a deeply spiritual experience where she felt the Lord lovingly whisper to her that her time on earth was done and that she had fulfilled her purpose on earth. With tears in her eyes, she mentioned to her family that she felt at peace with that message and had the assurance that it came from the Lord.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Iryse and her sister Glenda. Kathryn is survived by her siblings David, Julie, and Michael, her husband Alan, her children Jennifer, Josh, Justin, Jessica, and Jason, and 8 grandchildren, Crue, Ty, Macie, Carson, Reese, Jarin, Rocky, and Autzyn.
