1940 ~ 2017
Kendall Young, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by
his family in his home on the morning of May 3rd 2017 in
Eagle Mountain, Utah. Stephen had been battling complications
of cancer for nearly 20-years. Steve was the husband of
Shirlee Francine (Bowles) Young, married for 57 years.
Born in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 14th 1940. The son
of Vaughn O. Young and Edith Duckworth, he grew up in Holladay,
Utah where he met his high school sweetheart Shirlee. They
were married and sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple
in 1960. Steve initially worked for his Father at VO Printing.
He later worked in construction and drove trucks. He finished
his career in 2000 after working nearly 25 years selling
trucks for Lake City International and Freightliner of Utah.
Steve loved to play golf, especially with his Dad in Palm
Springs. Steve was a devoted Son, Husband, Father and Grandpa.
He never lost his temper and always had an answer and solution
for every problem. He cherished his mother Edith, his Wife
Shirlee and his children. Steve was a Boy Scout and his
eyes still teared up when he talked about floating Glen
Canyon with his Troop before they filled it making Lake
Powell. Steve served his country in Army National Guard.
Steve served faithfully in the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints. He held several callings over the years
but cherished his four year assignment as a Temple Worker
at the Utah, Timpanogos Temple. Steve and Shirlee moved
to Highland, Utah in 1972 where they raised their family
of five children, 20 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
In 2000 after retiring from work Steve and Shirlee moved
to Eagle Mountain and lived there until his passing.
He was proceeded in death by his Mother, Father, and Sister
(Tony Dewsnup). He is survived by his wife, Shirlee, Sister
Nancy Buehner (Steve), five children, Shelley McKinney (Rodney),
Sherree White (Mark), Spencer Young (Sandy), Stuart Young
(Shellene), and Suzanne Bassett (Bryan), and by many grandchildren
and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 8, 2017 at
11:00 am at the Valley View LDS Chapel, 9475 Mustang Way,
Eagle Mountain, Utah. Family and friends may call on Sunday,
May 7, 2017 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the church and again
on Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the church prior
to services. Interment will be at the Highland City Cemetery.
