Lynette Anderson Obituary

Pearl Lynette Anderson

1935 ~ 2026

Lynette Anderson (90) of American Fork, Utah passed away Thursday, February 26th 2026. Lynette fought valiantly to recover after breaking both of her ankles in a fall, but complications from sjogrens syndrome proved to be more than her body could take and she passed away 20 days after her fall. We are grateful for the tender care Lynette received at the Covington at Lehi and from iCare Home Health and Hospice.

Pearl Lynette Anderson was born September 23, 1935 in Park City, Utah to Rhoda Workman and Lafayette Anderson. She was born at home during her grandmother’s birthday party. What a way to enter the world! Lynette was the third of seven children and was very close to her siblings throughout her life. Lynette married and had one son, David Little who was born in 1959. She later remarried and became the step-mother to five wonderful children: Rick (Elizabeth) Valencia, David (Jann) Valencia, Mark (Heather) Valencia, Michael (Barbara) Valencia, and Tish (Nick) Cayton and sixteen grandchildren and a growing number of great- grandchildren. She enjoyed a strong relationship with all of her step-children and they remained supportive throughout her life. Lynette is survived by her siblings Elliot (Pat) Anderson, Jo Anderson, Arlynn (Cathie) Anderson, and Dwaine (Diane) Anderson and her grandchildren Elizabeth (Seth) Ferguson, Andrew Little and Nathan Little and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Lynette is preceded in death by her parents, her son David Little, step-son Michael, and her brothers Lafe and Weston Anderson. Lynette’s family and friends were her most important treasures. She was the honorary grandmother to countless families, and if you felt like she was family, you were!

Hard work and education were a priority for Lynette throughout her life. Lynette graduated from Hastings High School in 1953. She worked her way through college, graduating from BYU in 1963. It was ten hard years of work to earn her bachelor’s degree and then she quickly obtained her Master’s degree in only two years from Eastern Montana College in 1978. Lynette had a distinguished 39 year career as an educator and administrator. She was an assistant principal and then became the first female secondary education principal in Montana. She was an educator in Montana for 29 years and was selected as one of only three women to represent the United States at an educational exchange program in Great Britain. After moving to Utah Lynette was the principal of Spanish Fork High School. The last 10 years of her career were her favorite as she taught future teachers as an associate professor at Brigham Young University.

Lynette was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served diligently in many callings - including the Provo MTC and the American Fork Temple. She tried to emulate Jesus Christ by serving and loving others, and treating everyone she met with kindness. Lynette had very tender feelings for her pioneer ancestors and loved teaching lessons in her local Daughters of Utah Pioneers unit. Anytime she felt cold or sick she would compare her condition to what the pioneers went through and always showed gratitude for what she had.
