George Brent Keeler

1955 – 2022

George Brent Keeler was born January 22, 1955 to Virginia Bowles Keeler and Joseph Jensen Keeler (Jay) He was welcomed as a boy not only by parents, but by five older sisters. Brent’s first name George, was given to honor “Uncle” George Fitzroy, a fast friend and mentor to Jay.

Brent attended Joaquin elementary for kindergarten, then BY Lab School, Farrer Junior High and Provo High School. Subsequently, he completed two years at BYU.

Brent was passionate about railroads and everything RR related, but his love for the US National parks continued throughout his life. We sisters have always believed that had his circumstances been different, he would have been a career park ranger instead of long-term caregiver. He played the French horn and played in bands through high school, then under Dr. Ralph Laycock in the university band. He also sang with the Mormon Youth Chorus for several years. A large collection of recordings testify to his love of music.

Brent was his father’s companion on dozens of Saturday trips to prowl around mining ghost towns. Then when his father could no longer drive, Brent became the driver and took his dad wherever he needed to go. This occupation expanded to caregiver as his parents aged, then as sole caregiver for his mother.

Brent was preceded in death by sister, Janice Keeler Butler, and survived by sisters Kathleen Keeler Murphy, Mary Anne Keeler Jolley, Catherine Marie Keeler Blanchard and Claudia Keeler Pickering.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

I played French horn in the band and orchestra with Brent all through High School. We had a grand time competing for first chair. Brent and I had many adventures. My condolences to his family!

Farewell Uncle Brent! I will always fondl6 remember our trips with you and Granddad to Spanish Fork as a little kid, our dinners at Prestwich Farms and Chuck-a-Rama, and watching Star Trek TNG with you during our Sunday dinners in Sandy as a teenagers. Rest in peace!

Mr Keeler would tell us about how he loved trains and loved to watch videos about them.
He would joke about how he enjoyed the TV show Marcus Welby MD and I reminded him of Nurse Wells. George would speak about Hilary Hahn and how he adored her violin skills.
We will miss him dearly, and wish him peace and love in heaven.
    Sincerely,
    Tiffani Jackman

Mr. Keeler was always so kind. He loved old movies and always had great recommendations on what to see next! He also enjoyed classical music. It helped him forget his daily stresses. We’ll miss his stories! He is now “free” soul up in Heaven.

Brent was a brother from another mother. We were joined at the hip. We would get together and take spontaneous rides to anywhere we ended up. Brent’s humor and love and zest for life were infectious. His devotion and love for JJ his dad was unprecedented and Brent took JJs passing very personal. He would give me rides back to SLC late at night which would get him back home to Provo very late. Brent was kind to a fault. Our years in the Mormon Youth Chorus were among the highlights of my life. I hope to embrace Brent again and have a friendship thru eternity.
